GreenIRR Helping Turn Fleet Data into a Sustainability Advantage

For ETI, a regional life sciences and clinical trial carrier operating in the JFK, Newark, and Philadelphia corridors, precision has always been the business. Temperature control, chain-of-custody documentation, and exact timing define every shipment its 70-plus vehicles and 110-plus employees handle. Increasingly, that precision extends to a new domain: environmental accountability.

"Customers are beginning to ask not just whether we can move freight, but what the environmental impact of that movement is," said Brandon Sauers, ETI's Vice President and incoming CEO. "In some cases, not having that data can be a dealbreaker."

The challenge: emissions data becomes a requirement

As ETI's customer base grew, especially among pharmaceutical and international logistics customers, Scope 1 emissions reporting shifted from a nice-to-have to a standard RFP requirement, often with alignment to recognized frameworks expected. ETI's existing process relied on manual fuel record collection and spreadsheet calculations, consuming roughly 30 hours every quarter. It was hard to scale and inconsistently aligned with formal standards.

The company needed accurate, repeatable emissions reporting without adding operational overhead or building a parallel reporting system.

The solution: Geotab data, operationalized through GreenIRR

The answer emerged at a transportation networking event, where Sauers met Celine King, co-founder of GreenIRR, a sustainability reporting platform built specifically for fleet operators.

ETI had used Geotab since 2016 for fleet tracking, compliance, and driver visibility, deployed through its longtime reseller and technology partner, Assured Telematics Innovation (ATI). GreenIRR integrates natively with that existing Geotab system, meaning no new hardware and no separate reporting workflow. Sauers described the shift as a "light switch moment." The data was already there; GreenIRR provided the layer that translates it into standardized emissions reporting aligned with GHG Protocol and ISO 14064.

Geotab remains the operational foundation, capturing vehicle diagnostics, driver behavior, ELD compliance, and fleet performance. GreenIRR converts that data into emissions outputs, fuel efficiency trends, and fleet-wide emissions intensity reporting, plus ready-to-submit reports formatted for customer RFPs. Monthly efficiency reports flag underperforming assets by fuel economy, letting ETI fix inefficiencies at the vehicle level before they spread across the fleet.

"Geotab excels at providing the cause for inefficiencies," King explained. "GreenIRR captures the trend and quantifies the story, how those operational improvements translate into fuel reduction and emissions reduction over time."

The results

99% reduction in reporting effort. Thirty hours of quarterly manual work now takes a single report pull.

Scope 1 emissions down 3.1% year over year across 2025, driven by operational improvements and action on flagged underperforming assets.

Fuel spend down 2.8% year over year, as high-consumption patterns are corrected at the individual asset level.

Above-average emissions rating maintained throughout 2025 against a benchmark of over 3,000 fleets.

The commercial impact is just as real. ETI now delivers standardized emissions reports as part of customer deliverables, particularly in pharmaceutical and EU-regulated RFPs.

"Being able to show this data directly impacts whether we are in the conversation for new business," Sauers said. "Customers are moving freight at scale, and they want transparency on emissions."

What's next

Sauers plans to extend reporting into Scope 2, covering energy use at ETI's new warehousing facility, building toward comprehensive carbon accounting spanning fleet and facilities.

"We're going to be an all-in-one shop in the Northeast," says Sauers. "And sustainability is part of that story."
